MOst probably its your nvidia's setting. I am using a 32inch HD ready LCD tv as my monitor too. A philips panel. Recommended PC seting is 1366X768 too. I have no problem with my displays, although i am using ATI. Just meddle with the nvidia settings. and, you only need a good HDMI cable if you intend to put ur display more than 50m away from your input device
