Anyone here have any experiance with this board? The GA-P55-UD3R has the PCI-E x1 slots either side of the main PCI-E x16 slot. If I put an HD5850 in the x16 slot would it cause any problems if I was to fit a soundcard in one of the x1 slots (for example. An X-Fi or something)? I'm thinking fit and potential overheating of the soundcard. The ASUS P7P55D has it's two x1 slots directly ...

You're absolutely right, it only has one slot. Don't know where I got two from. I've been looking at so many mobos recently, I've obviously started mixing them up. x) Thanks. Good to hear fit isn't a problem (I guess it would be a huge oversight if it was). My only other concern is the hot air the 5850 vents out the top of the card. I read on [H] it can get very hot.

I dont get ur point - this mobo isnt on warranty anymore and i dont give a **** about this pc - it has venice 3000+ and 1 gig of ram onboard. My main pc's (with quad K8 cores and 4 gigs of ram) mobo is still untouched. I'm thinking about quick mobo replacemnt at the end of the year for Gigabyte's GA-2CEWH. The point is that CK804 doesn't support VGA cards on secondary and tertiary pci-e slots or ...

Yes, PCIe x1/x8 are compatible with PCIe x16 slot. Just curious, why run a PCIe x1 on a x16 slot?

Power Supply was a QCZ 600W.  Meets all the requirements for the 285.  I did not try GPU-Z but did try CPU-Z.  Said it was running 1x. .  Sent back the GPU today for a replacement.  We'll see what happens.   Thanks for your help, Ross

Good good, the only potential issue i have is the cards i need to be using. My GTX260 will obviously go in the top slot leaving a PCI-E x1 for my TV card at the bottom and the PCI slot for my X-Fi which i have to use as i use the breakout box for connecting stuff up to. Id lose the 8800 physx card but i can live with that i think.
