Are there any PCI cards that are decent that dont cost £70+ and would be able to run Video games? I Need something that has 128 RAM or more, and pixel shader 1.1. the best one I have found so far is a nVidia Geforce 6800 but thats a good £90. So, any suggestions?

On the verge of losing what remains of my already quickly fading sanity, and after much, MUCH, googling, I have to ask... What is the maximum limit of pci cards that can be installed on a standard x86 motherboard, slot count permitting? There must be a limit, but I'm certain it has to be above 4 because I've seen a desktop computer turned firewall with Frankenstein science and expansion chassis...

My dad recently fried his old vcard, and asked me to find a replacement. All he does is watch HD videos, but seeing as the mobo is so old, it can only take a PCI slot card. There are no PCI cards in any of the local stores, and online they seem to be way too expensive for such outdated technology. Also, he was planning on replacing the computer in a year or so, so is it worth ...

Well, I guess this seems to be a fairly common question nowadays but I can't seem to find an answer for it. I just built a new desktop and, of course, want to have a number of different linux distros on it, but I also want a wireless card that will support the Wireless N standard for when I upgrade my router in a year or so. The only thing that I've been able to find is that something with ...

Well, since I am working on my Freeview setup now, and discovered that my what should be DVB-S card is a DVB-T card...I need a proper DVB-S PCI card to get Freeview Digital. I've been looking at recommendations on this website aswell as others, but I could only find things from 2008 and I think things have changed since then. I need a DVB-S PCI (not ...

Hi, I have a Tyan Bigby-P S5217, with a stock debian 2.6.31 kernel, which apparently doesn't "see" the cards I plug (it sees its internal peripherals fine). I first plugged a wifi PCI card into a PCI-X slot (there's no PCI slot), it didn't appear in lspci. As I thought it was a voltage problem (PCI-X only accept 3.3v, not 5v IIRC) I bought a PCI-E one. It's still not seen ...

IN response to earlier ?'s about BFG6800gt: yes, the cards fit in a single slot. If you have something in the PCI slot, the first PCIe is a freaking tight fit. AND if any of you dogs could answer, why are the GPU's so hot on the K8we? I have good cooling, and a 6800gt idles at 68 and an ati x800xl idles at 50. Both are 10-20 too high. I've tried everything. No one write in that this...

i doubt you will see much of an improvement unless its a good card for its era. i highly recommend you just save up for a new computer. upgrading is out of the question as youd need a new mobo, which means a new cpu, then to get the new video card would mean getting another psu. so its basically a new computer anyway. you can get a decent budget gaming rig for 400 pounds.

You really need to use the retail/universal installer version of OS 9 on your 6360, because the hardware build of an iMac and the corresponding OS build is so different from an old Performa. Additionally, the OS 9.2.1/9.2.2 Updates aren't supported on a 6360, unless you modified them with the downloadable third-party utility "OS 9 Helper." While I'm not recommending that you bid on ...
