When I first bought my P228, it came with a very pitted slide which I promptly sold to Todd @ Customized Creationz I believe. I replaced it with a brand new P228 slide that I bought off gun broker. And the same guy I bought the slide from had a second one which I just bought. I am thinking of either refinishing one in silver or just selling the current one outright. I have only put 100 rounds ...

P228 Slide Rail wear after refinishing

I got my P228 frame back about a month ago from being refinished in a cera-hide matte black finish. I finally got around to taking it to the range this past weekend and put about 100 rounds down range and I have what to me seems like a little excessive rail wear for only firing 100 rounds. I read a few instances where some finish might where off initially at certain slide to frame contact points...

From the looks of the groove in the hammer, that pistol has been around the block a few times! Ditto on the flaking; if it is not flaking, grease 'er up and go.

Most people who know a lot about the classic West German sigs know that they were made with slightly looser tolerances due to them being combat handguns. The purpose sig had in mind was to allow a little extra play just in case dirt gets in the rails. Newer sigs made in America seem to have a tighter fit however.
