hi im having problems getting vista to work fully with netgear DG834Gv.4? router i have my pc running xp using this and its fine and also my ps3 is fine but my girlfriends laptop which is running vista is a pain in the backside basically it will connect to the router fine one hour then the next hour it will display unidentified router or it will show the router then connect to the router only ...

Hi Mate I think that the first thing is to upgrade the firmware on the laptop. You can get the correct firmware from the Netgear page, you select your model and it will give you the latest firmware version. You will need to go into 192.168.0.1 as Admin and password to upgrade the firmware. On another note, have you tried rebooting the router or reset to factory settings? Or is it ...

'K, very specific technical question here: Netgear MR814 Wireless Router, with the 4.14 Firmware Update. It's working just fine with the laptop as a wired router, and I've set it up with a name, password and everything. The signal's strong, which considering I'm 2 feet away from it it really ought to be, and my Laptop (HP Pavilion dv5, Vista 64 Bit Home Entertainment System) sees it....

I had the same problems with a Netgear wireless card ,WG311GE,despite a "Supports Windows Vista" sticker spent countless hours trying to get it to work with no sucess,i gave up and ran a LAN cable in the end. I would try Whirlpool Forums as well,there were a couple of Threads on Netgear problems in the early stages of Vista's release.
