That long rotella post, that i enjoyed reading, got me curious: the mobil 1 sysnthetic 15-50 i think it was, that i ran awhile back, I was constantly having to add oil. Every 2 weeks. Since I ran the rotella synthetic, hardly at all. Same riding conditions, mileage, almost same temp. Any one else notice this or have ideas why? I went and had the oil changed today in my LT4 with 119k miles on it For the first time they asked if I wanted Mobil 1 or Mobil 1 HiMileage. I elected to stay with what I had always used. Does anybody know anything about this HiMileage stuff?

For a 4.6 3v motor which is driven in the winter. Temps down to -20F. Read about how good MC 5W20 is regarded. Any benefit to running M1 5W20 or is the MC 5W20 ok? Brain spinning trying to make sense out of some threads, base stock, level 2, level 3. Sorry guys, I'm not a chemical engineer. Thanks.

I just changed oil in my 2001 VW Passat 1.8T with Mobil 1 0W40 synthetic oil and noticed changes in operating temperature. With previous oil (Valvoline Synpower 5W30) the car get to 195 F (during the fall in MA) in approximately 3 miles now it takes about 8 miles under very similar weather conditions. Is that normal? Can it be connected with oil change? Maybe my guestion sounds silly for the ...

I decided to give Mobil 1 0W-40 a try in my 07 turbocharged MINI Cooper S. This oil has been in my engine for last 2300 miles. I did a track day last month on this oil. The oil saw about 3 hours of total track time at Sebring. I did multiple sessions and each session was 30 minutes long. When I was not turning a corner, I was flooring the gas pedal all the way! I have another track day coming up ...

Hi All, Just put this in both my high mileage Volvo's and was wondering what type of OCI I could expect from this oil. I would presume around 7500 miles but just wanted to see what you all thought. Thank you.

This is the UOA from the M1 5w20 run in my parent's 2000 Expedition. This run had a lot of towing, two runs of 1,528Km's with a loaded tandem U-Haul trailer from Nova Scotia to Ontario. We changed the oil out at 7,000Km because the engine was making an odd noise. The noise was eliminated with a move to 0w40. Filter was a K&N. There was no make-up oil added.

I live in Iowa, I am getting my oil changed tomorrow and bought Mobil 1 0w-30. Is this a good choice for the winter months outside? Also I got the quarts at Wal-mart and the oil was really cheap, $22 for 5 quarts and I bought a single quart for adding. Total was around $30. What do you guys think?
