One nice thing about liberal run "sanctuary cities" like san francisco. Companies can import foreign workers to work at minimum wage to further undercut the U.S. citizens right to earn a living. Just like the red chinese construction companies who are now doing stimulus public work projects in the United States...What's wrong not enough out of work American construction companies and American ...

The Bad about Minimum Wage The term minimum wage can almost be labelled as dirty in Singapore. For a long time, the government had insisted that having a minimum wage in place could do more harm than good. In a recent Straits Times report, MM Lee had noted that every country that has set a minimum wage over what the market will bear has found that the move cuts jobs and that Singapore...

It seems the only jobs around these days are minimum wage jobs. I currently work in a coffee chain and it's pretty bottom of the barrel work. You have to serve a never ending queue of customers, make coffees, do the tills, prepare food and then clean the whole place afterwards! The fifteen minute break isn't too hot either. I'm not averse to hard work but there must be easier gigs around. Are ...

What impact do labor market monopsony and its derivatives have on the employment effects of the minimum wage? I'm of the opinion that the concept of the minimum wage necessarily reducing employment is an assumption that holds true only in the crude textbook model of the labor market, and is not suited to actual reality, since monopsony power (and more broadly, oligopsonistic conditions in ...

Hello London, Question: What is the minimum wage in your powerful city and what kind of benefits (medical, food, housing, education, etc) are available to the lower class of London? Is 1 job enough to survive in your city and even save a few pounds? ~~Thanks in advance

The minimum wage for domestic workers has been increased by seven percent, the labour department said on Tuesday. The hike applied to both urban and rural areas, employment standards executive manager Virgil Seafield said in a statement. "Starting on December 1, minimum wages of domestic workers employed for more than 27 hours a week in area A will rise from R6.88 per hour to R7.40. Put...

I have a friend who's 49 right now and he's been working all his life with the wage of 10 bucks an hour. He has a degree in English from university, yet he's almost 2 pay checks away from homelessness. I know tons of people who have university degrees but work menial jobs. I think it's completely bullshit at the wages our government gives us. At today's store prices, you can barely afford ...

Hi, I recently set up a leaflet distribution business and have had to start to pay other people to deliver for me as the workload is just to much for me. Are there any implications regarding minimum wage when paying people to distribute? I pay £25 per 1000 leaflets for people to distribute for me (which is what I got paid when I did it for another large company) but someone queried...

lindseydaniel you can still be self employed and classed as a worker...OP please don't think that having self employed operatives will make you exempt from paying NMW. You would need to get clarification in writing from HMRC before going down that route. NMW genuinely doesn't apply if you are self employed and you set your own pay rates, i.e. you let a company know what your pay rate is (...

Okay, I had understood that the early retirement was compulsory for the government employees - ie like it or not (having earned enough or not, or whether or not you had an alternative career plan!) - you were out! I certainly have come across some gentlemen who had been in that situation. So this is more like in the UK - except they have phased out the sex discrimination in ...

The minimum wage kills employment and is a basic interference in a private contract between 2 people. Disclaimer: I don't and never have paid my staff anything close to or lower than the minimum wage. However there are plenty of jobs out there I could see that only make sense financially if the employer pays below minimum wage. Lets say e.g. handing out flyers at the interchange , hiring ...

My question is and it is only a question. To those of you that say you have known several servers and none have ever gotten food stamps . Just How would you know that, do you follow them around all of the time, do ask them if they get food stamps? I know if I was a server I wouldn't publish it in the local paper if I was getting food stamps. Nothing wrong with anyone getting them if ...
