I have PCOS but no diabetes. My blood sugar is always normal and I'm not overweight. I've read that metformin can lower blood sugar and I obviously don't need this since I don't have diabetes. Now I'm worried that it will mess with my blood sugar levels. Is it really ok for someone without diabetes to take metformin? I just want to ovulate more regularly, and the Dr. said that this will help my ...

Hey all, I have a questions for any of you taking one or both of these drugs. My RE said to stop taking both of them cold turkey once I hit twelve weeks, but from what I've read online it seems most people are being weaned off the last week or so. If you're on either of these what is your doc having you do? Thanks! Erin

I'm 47 and have been on yaz for polyctstic ovaries for many years. I stopped it in August and finally my weight is starting to decrease. My PCP is thinking I may be pre-diabetic and thought Metformin might help. I would appreciate any comments from others with simialar condition.

Hello everyone, Sad in a way to see some of the same names from when I posted/lurked a while ago. Hope you are all making progress and having more good days than bad ones... Spesh hi to Carole - watcha gorgeous! Most if not nearly every day I would say my PND is pretty much gone thankfully. I feel a bit like a recovered/recovering? alcoholic e.g. I feel I will always be a PND sufferer, even...

Thanks ladies, I think I will wean off the progesterone, I can't see it hurting but I can see (at least in my non medical opinion) there being a shock to the system with it just gone one day (I'm taking 3 suppositories a day). I see my midwife tomorrow for the first time and get her opinion but I think that's what I'll do. I find it interesting a couple of you are staying on the metformin ...

That is correct. A lot of women that have PCOS have what is insulin resistance. The Metformin helps with this. It won't hurt you since you don't have diabetes. I am in the same boat as you. I don't have diabetes and my sugar levels have always been fine on blood tests. I'm on Metformin as well. I was worried that since my levels were always fine that the Metformin would lower them and ...

Ladies thanks millions! Tiff:my cousin when she got preggo got NEG for her first 2 months while pregnant. She had to go to the DR for a blood test to confirm. Some women can be pregnant and the HPT not catch the HCG because it is so low. You might want to do that. Baby dust to all!!

Here's a thread where we discusses this. I linked to a big study on men on met-they found moderate drinkers 7-21 drinks a week had good outcomes. Met and alcohol-how much is "moderate" As an aside, I think some of the very strong language on met saying to never mix with alcohol is more about culture than science. I got my prescription in Canada and neither my dr or the pharmacist said ...
