Hi, could anyone shed some light on what maternity pay is for scottish teachers? Have searched internet and everything I can find says that it is effectively full pay for 1st 3 months then statutory maternity pay for next 3 months. However I have it in my head that it is 6 months full then 3 months full. Have I imagined this? Thanks A

Well, although I'm not an lsp, I am support staff and relative to normal earnings I did very nicely thank you on maternity pay. The 12 (and it was definitely 12 that I got, not 26!) weeks half pay +SMP works out to more than my normal pay. But think about what that says about my normal pay.... Similarily, during my smp-only weeks I was much better off than I am now that I've ...

o got smp by my supply agency. i think that if they pay your tax and ni and you work during the qualifying period then you're ok. i didn't get much smp cause the 15 weeks fell just before the school hols and work tends to be a bit quieter then. i still got £112 a week then £108. so it's still good.

Thanks, that is really useful as well. I did a bit of research into it today as well and it did say that if you don't get the amount required, they have to look into why you didn't achieve it - for example, did they not have enough work to offer you or did they offer you days and you knocked them back. I think that would mean that over the summer you would still qualify, as you can't be ...
