I wanted a second cable modem in the house to run off of our Charter ISP. I know wi-fi is easier but I want a wired system. Presently I rent a cable modem from Charter and I thought that if I bought my own they would activate. Well they did, but they also turned off the original modem that I rent from them. Does anyone know if it's possible to clone the mac address from one modem to ...

Clone the MAC address, and use them at the same time? No. Use one modem, but buy a 4 port wired switch. It will solve your problem.

Hello, Is it possible to clone a cable modem MAC address just like I can clone a routers MAC address? Time Warner says I need to call them before I install a different cable modem. They said they need to register the MAC address. The problem is every time I call them I have to wait on hold a long time. I'm thinking of buying a Motorola SURFboard SB6120. Thank you.

OP at best you have a civil case but you do not have definitive proof here. You say you have a MAC address but I could easily clone someone else's MAC address. Your case is really like trespassing which is a civil one. No encryption was broken since you had already given this person the wireless key. You should have changed the wireless key.

Had same issue here with Cox Digital Telephone (Arris TM502 here). PC by itself would connect (tech checked Internet connection while I was gone), but Linksys router would not get an IP from Cox. Tried factory reset, etc....no dice. Cloned PC MAC address to router, good to go!
