It is quite a shame that most people dont figure this out before kids. I believe marriage vows obligate a person to try and to know they have done everything within their power to make their marriage work.

If a spouse is a good parent but an immature person you really can't rely on to be completely honest, someone with integrity, a person with ambition, and someone who can't hold an intellectual conversation yet is GREAT with the children but you just can't stand their laziness.
