I made mine out of some angle iron I positioned them straight up, so I had to relocate the brakeline brackets. It was a little tricky to get them to clear the steeringshaft though. I didn't have to drill the frame, I used existing holes.

Got the fridge in and some electrical work done finally. I welded in some angle iron pieces as brackets for the slides. They aren't quite long enough to get the fridge all the way out but they'll work for now. The price difference between these 24" HomeDepot models ($16) and the 30" ones from McMaster-Carr is like $90. So I'll make due with these till I can find suitable replacements. Here is...

I assume your compass picks up the steel/iron in the dish and mounting pipes and brackets. You would need to be at least 10' from the dish, perhaps to the magnetic north of it, to get the best angle. it would be easier to just get well away from it and any iron railings and then sight the angle to some distant object say a big tree or water tower on your horizon.
