Ok, I am int he last stages of installing my new engine in my truck. I am installng the transmission now but before I install it I put the new torque converter in, while installing it I got the three clicks and it has judging by eye alittle more than a quarter inch inside the housing. I can take my hand and push up on it alittle and it will turn freely without binding. My question is do you ...

Sounds about right. Just keep spinning the converter while pushing in till it stops dropping in any further. The torque converter studs should be just a bit below flush with the bellhousing mounting surface. The converter will be free spinning, it doesn't "lock" into place.
