Gewurz CAN work great, but it has to be a sweeter version with low alcohol. The dry Gewurz's can be too high in alcohol, which makes spicy foods even spicier, instead of being refreshing like you'd want. Riesling's are also terrific choices, but I'd stick to Germany and at least kabinett in sweetness. A big fat FX Pichler from Austria wouldn't work very well...
