Hi, I've got a 9lb. smoked bone-in ham that is "ready to cook". I want to use a glaze that requires one hour of roasting time. Should I take off the foil during the last hour of roasting, apply the glaze, and replace the foil? Thanks!

We're doing ham this year for Christmas. Just a stright spiral sliced one. Any good glaze recipes? My mom usually ends up just using the packet that comes with the ham and I'd like something a bit different.

A friend of mine loves commercially prepared, sprial sliced hams with that sugary glaze that breaks off in chunks. I'd like to try making him a ham similar to this for Christmas. I can't spiral slice it, but I'm hoping to reproduce the glaze somehow. The only glazes I've ever used have been syrupy with a texture that remains soft and sticky after baking. Any recipe ideas are much appreciated!

Hi: My diabetes educator just introduced me to no sugar syrup (12 carbs per 1/4 cup). I'd like to make a ham glaze for thanksgiving using this syrup. Does anyone know how to do this? Do I use brown sugar with it (sweet and low has almost no carbs? What else can I add to it. I need to limit my whole meal to 15-20 carbs. A challenge...Arlene4307

I'm going to make a ham for Christmas dinner. What's the best way to do it? Do you cook yours in some kind of special seasoning/liquid/glaze, or glaze it after cooking? Are there any special secrets I should know? Thanks!

Or you can use toothpicks to hold them in place, but keep the ends out enough were you can remove them before slicing the ham.

I'm so sorry I just saw this now. I would glaze and then NOT recover. The Ham is smoked therefore shouldn't need to be more than warmed through (Check the package for sure). The glaze can be added while the ham warms and you can even baste with additional glaze if you'd like. Sorry so late, Brenda

I'm lazy and throw mine in the crockpot with some cloves and apple juice and just turn it once or twice... it glazes itself... Mind you, my hams are only 5-6 pounds...

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't - depends on my mood at the time. I make a glaze with whole berry crannberry sauce and orange juice.
