Hi Everyone, I was so confident that my 1 hr glucose tolerance test would be normal and it was high. I had this with Juliette too. The scary thing is that along with the high glucose with Juliette I developed pre ecclampsia.. Then Juliette has been having headaches. We are taking her to a pediatric neurologist next week. I am so concerned about her. 4 1/2 is too young for headaches even...

So i went in earlier this week at 27 weeks for a glucose tolerance test. I had no reason to think i had gestational diabetes but thought i would do the test anyways. My doctor called this morning saying that my level was "slightly elevated" 130 & under isnormal and my level was 146. They want me to go back and do the 3 hour test. At this point they told me that this doesnt mean i have ...

It's that time. I know when I go to my OB appointment next Tuesday that they will give me the slip to go take the test. I am pretty sure that I remember one of the nurses saying that it is non fasting now days. I have not taken this test since I was pregnant 6 years ago, then it was fasting. Anybody know if it is non fasting now? I failed the 1 hour last time, took the 3 hour and ...

I am extremely confused about the 3 hour glucose tolerance test. When I was given my Lab slip I went to the Lab and asked for directions. I was told that they did not have written directions, but that I needed to fast for 10 hours prior to my test being started. I will follow my directions, but what I am confused about is the diet I've heard about the 3 days prior to the test. I have seen many...

Hey ladies, my glucose test is tomorrow. My Dr. sent me home with a bottle of the "sugar water" and I am supposed to drink it before I go into the office. My appt. is right around lunch...did you guys fast at all before your screening or just eat normal? I don't want to have to go back for the 3 hour test, so I am wondering if I should eat normal tomorrow, or eat light all morning...

I don't normally hold with saying no to medical tests etc. but this pregnancy I have been advised to have the GTT because my dad has just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. We know why he has diabetes - he has chronic pancreatitis. But this finding gives me a 'family history' so I've been sent an appointment letter. My BMI is about 22 when pregnant (!), my last baby was very small for ...

What a bizarre thing to say to you!! Geez, you try to prepare yourself for insensitive relatives etc. but how do you protect yourself from creepy scarf lady? You certainly had a better come back than I could have ever come up with. I would have just laughed nervously... I'm sorry you have to do the second glucose test. I always think it is quite inhumane to make a pg woman sit for ...

My instructions told me to fast for 10 hrs and to eat a diet high in carbs for the three days before the test. I'll be taking my three hour this week so we will see!

I would take it. I failed my 1 hr by 1 point and ended up failing my 3 hour test with my last pregnancy. I am glad I knew so I could take care of myself and my baby. It turned out that she ended up being smaller than my first one and an easy delivery. My sister is an OB nurse practitioner and she advises that if you barely pass and are at elevated risk to still be careful with your diet b/...
