I'm using GIMP 2.6.7 and cannot consistantly make brushes that use the foreground and/or background colors. I've tried both RBG and greyscale but sometimes when I try to save them as .gbr I get a message: GIMP brushes are either GRAYSCALE or RGBA Saving 'C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\brushes\crosshatch2. gbr' failed: GIMP brush plug-in could not save image. What could I be doing ...

Hi Im a newbie. I have downloaded some gimp brushes and followed the instructions for downloading to putting the brush in the brush file in GIMP. They are not appearing. I'm also running this application on a 10.5.8 desktop iMac. I know how to create a brush (create image, have a transparent background, convert to "Grayscale," save with gbr {am I forgetting anything}) but the grayscale part is what's not working. I convert the image to grayscale, but when I "Save As" and ad ".gbr" at the end of the title, I get this error message; apparently I can't save ...

When I use the default brushes on Gimp, even on a higher resolution, the brush likes either look pixalated on a small scale or toosoft and blurry edged on a high scale. I'm trying to angle some brushes but I can't edit them.. they are read only. Anyone know how to fix this?? I've searched but all I can find is how to edit them when there isn't a problem.
