I am a tile noobie and have wandered around the forums looking for advice. I want to install my next tile floor job right. From what I can tell, if I were to put down the "Perfect tile floor job" it would be about 2 1/4" thick...... Starting from the bottom right on to of the floor joists: 3/4" plywood or OSB (Grain laid 90° to joist) 3/4" plywood or OSB (Same grain direction and ...

The bathroom floor has painted tile, and the paint is wearing off.Rather than replace the floor or tile, we'd like to re-paint. Is there a paint that we could use that wouldn't wear off easily?

Three years ago I fitted ceramic floor tiles to my bathroom floor, using Palace Rapid set adhesive, that I mixed myself with water. My wife and I are unhappy with the style of the floor tile and have decided to remove them. The floor tiles are coming away from the adhesive reasonably easy enough using a hammer and cold chisel, but the adhesive is very hard and proving difficult to remove....

I have laid plywood and left a small gap around edge. Once tiles are laid there are certain areas where skirting will sit over it and there are other parts where units will sit over it. But there will be small gaps. As there are air bricks in the outside wall, what do i use to seal up the edges? Do i use a good low modulus silicon as don't want to waste heat and it too become drafty in there?

Scratched White floor tile Hey guys. Alright, I was cleaning some grout out between a few tiles to replace them and used my Olfa knife. I used the black blades; low and behold a couple different times I slipped out of the joint and scratched the tile. It is just a basic 13x13 dal-tile white glazed ceramic. I was wondering if anyone ...

Hello We are installing wetrooms in private flats in a new build project. The bathrooms are on a concrete slab, we have a screed layer of around 110mm within which to place the shower waste, and slope for the shower drainage. I want to avoid having to use any prefab trays or proformas. My question is can we tile directly onto the screed, or do we need a waterproofing layer? Can you use a paint...

QUESTION: Hi, We bought our house a year ago and the guest bathroom had been remodeled about 5 years prior. The flooring is white tile about 8"x8" pieces. I don't know what kind of tile it is - it has a smooth surface - it is not really slippery. The problem we are having is whenever anyone walks on the tile, the imprints from the sole of their shoes or their footprints are left everywhere they...

I am about to purchase a lovely Bruce engineered Natural click lock floor for installation in my new home (new to me anwyway). I was told that the new floor could be installed over an existing tile floor. The installation over tile would be on the ground floor only. The ground floor tile is ungrouted, and on concrete. Who knows whay the previous owners didn't grout. The flooring will be ...

Hi! My wife bought some 16 1/2" x 16 1/2" porcelain tile. It says Ceramiche on box. It is not very thick (about 1/4"). Can this be installed on a floor? I have double layer of plywood sub floor, and joist are 16" apart 2x10 so I have good structure. I plan to use ditra and maybe even some hardi under it to bring up the height. Tile appears to be very fragile, can it be installed ...

Thanks for all of your help. Did some research on the ISO standard. Looks like the tile that I have is in group G . (appendix G, (Bia)) and glazed (GL). Unfortunately there are no markings that would indicate that it is floor tile but we went back to the store and we were told that it was. We were also told that it was of very high quality. the 1300 number was degrees. there was a P8 ...

Kim, I'd have to vote for "no" on the trial run, especially if you've grouted before. It's just not that big of a deal. You cut open and mix two liquids, then add the sand, maybe observe some wait times, then go for it. I mean, other than two vs. one liquid with standard grout, it goes just about the same. Just be aware that it starts to stiffen sooner. Packaging says 80 minutes, and I ...

Yes, but you should make a dam around the flange. Duct tape attached to the edge of the flange and the un-stuck tape sticking up in the air will work. Caulk so there is no place for the SLC to flow around the flange into the floor. Ditra is insurance over any in-floor heat application. Are you still using the Wedi board? ...
