Apparently my 89 XR7 has 4 cables to the emergency braking system.Does the right cable come all the way over to the bracket near the coupler or does it split half way to the coupler.Basically I want to know where the splits are.Thank you.

Any SC with a ebrake handle not foot pedal like an LX has will have two cables. You have two cables of which go to the back calipers. The third one comes from the ebrake handle and attaches to the rear two cables via an adjuster/bracket. It runs on top of the gas tank. I only think the LX's have the four cable system because they have another cable that goes to the foot pedal.

SMilel We build industrial cables and have found that some customers try and lube the cables we build.... we stress that they only use a product that won't attract dirt in the summer and freeze in the winter... And that to run dry is better.... Since your close to one of the most beautiful parks in the world and in those conditions I mentioned above.... I'd really suggest ...

Post # 3 Not sure about your setup but my 85 has a long threaded rod with a nut to adjust the tension on the cables. Good bet there is some way to take out the tension on yours. That should at least narrow down whether a cable is snagged/stuck, or the pedal mechanism itself ..is stuck. Also, when the tension is taken out, you...

A few problems I am having with my rear brake work. I am very new to the Beetle world, and am new to drum brakes as well. Problem 1 - rear brakes. I have installed new shoes and springs, reassembled the brakes, but now the drums wont fit back on. I have adjusted the screws all the way down with still no luck. I have also ensured that the emergency brake bar at the top that runs between...

your switch is sticking, use some contact cleaner on the switch, first look a the e-brake to see where the switch is located then pull it out and see if cleaner sprayed into the end will free it up if it will not free up you will need to just replace the switch, or the cable is slow to retract and fully release on the parking brake. in that case you will need to lubricate the cable with a ...
