This discussion pertains to the old CGI-vs.-practical effects debate. What are your opinions about special effects in horror movies? While I won't deny that well-done CGI can make a lot of special effects seem very realistic (such as with the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park or the robots in Transformers ), I think practical effects such as stop-motion puppets work much better in horror movies ...

Practical effects will always win out when it comes to a "Transformation Scene". About the ONLY time that I think that CGI would work better in Horror Movies would be for something like the Phantasm "Orb". Now, I say that CGI would be "better" for that effect is simply because it removes the HORRID use of Blue-screen overlay that looks BAD. With the CGI effects of a simple BALL, you...
