My dog Boots was having leg pains when we went for walks, so i brought her to the vets, and they found that she has Luxating Patella on her right back knee. The surgery will cost over $3500 and i can't afford it. I will get the surgery if i have to...But i am wondering if there is another way to fix this. I am giving her glucosamine right now to help the pain, but is there something ...

If your giving Glucosamine it needs 2 have Chondrontin in it & use 4 6 weeks then you can give just Glucosamine also fish oil not cod liver oil helps my dog has just had an opperation on his back right knee & so far has cost me over £1000 has the vet not given you any pain killers 4 your dog ? Personaly i think surgery will be the only way 2 go dont u have pet insurance ?...

There are differing degrees of luxation. Try to find out what grade the dog is at. Possibly if it's only grade 1 or grade 2 you can wait for a bit of time. Sadly, at some point, even if later in life, it tends to get worse. It can also cause joint problems and possible arthritis.
