diesel+engine+swap - forum communication

Hey guys i have a 96 wrangler with a 4.0l and want to put a diesel engine in it. I know it would be easier to just buy a new one but i have already spent to much on this one to sell it. Was wondering if anyone has done this before or could give me some advice on engine and costs?

yeah its definitely a 96 model. I live in australia so i don't know if that makes a difference but they definitely made a 96 model over hear because i can get parts for it. Is it possible to put a new jeep diesel into it at all?

Are you sure your jeep isn't a 97? Jeep didn't make a 96 wrangler. The 10th digit in your VIN will tell you what year it is. S - 1995 T - 1996 V - 1997 Anyways. Hmm. Will i would probably be taking most of the wiring from the cummins and puttin it onto the gas truck. so that shouldn't be a big problem. The cummins is a 97. and im not sure what year gas truck i will end up with. Probably a 94-95 because that seems to be what im finding that are cheap.
