UPDATED Wed Aug 20 2008 16:59:35 It appears that the Haters don't understand that this is a spinoff. Hence, familiar territory, yet re-imagined. Like the classic-radio narration in place of the opening scroll. Yes, the new director took the spinoff a new direction. Imagine that!?! Which dovetailed perfectly with the retro-animation style. No, the new director wasn't going for ...

UPDATED Tue Aug 19 2008 21:50:14 Great sci-fi, especially the classics, usually get negative reviews when they come out. Well, look at all the negative reviews. Because most critics don't LOVE sci-fi, they don't know GOOD/GREAT sci-fi when they watch it. This is better than the prequels. (Better dialogue than Episode 3 and more action.) All-CGI. No live action limitations....

While I'm not exactly an expert on Woody Allen, I admire all of what I've seen from him, mostly because his writing is a notch above the rest. VCB , to put it simply, is wonderful. Each element lends a hand to the project, and the result is an intelligent, funny, sexy and realistic look at human ...

UPDATED Mon Aug 25 2008 13:07:25 Who knows what to expect from Woody Allen? Most of the films he's made this decade have been pretty unpredictable, and suspiciously Allen has agreed with the public reaction regarding most of them. I thought Melinda and Melinda was a fine, worthwhile effort, Scoop was just mostly mediocre, Match Point was the best film of Allen's career, and ...

Okay, this was an alright film with a stunning performance from Penélope Cruz and wonderful themes of love's abstract complexity. However it's quite innocuous and forgettable, a film that never really finds its footing or a distinct style. It all kind of moves along mundanely without much of the usual Woody "spark" (aka the witty banter that pops of the screen so trademark in Woody's ...
