compaq presario v5000 - internet discussions

Was given this laptop with no history. Hard drive was removed. Installed a new 60 GB drive. When I press the power button it comes on orange for a few seconds then flashes 6 times and turns off. Any ideas? Thanks Dave

after installing iDeneb v1.6 lite 10.5.8 my built in keyboard and touchpad do not work. and I'm have sleep/wake issues too. can someone point me in the right direction so I can fix these issues? Thanks

After my Compaq Presario v5000 has successfully logged on to Windows, all of a sudden it will go to a blank screen with vertical stripes. Sometimes it happens right away, sometimes it happens after working fine for a few minutes. I've seen orange with yellow stripes, light and dark blue stripes, off white with black stripes. When HP recalled some batteries recently, I tried to remove mine from the 3 year old laptop, but the sliding lock is frozen in position, preventing the removal. I've removed the battery when I increased my Memory Module some time ago. Any ideas? Thanks, Gerry
