The hinge broke on my Compaq C571NR, so I bought a new hinge. However, I can't even begin to comprehend how to open this thing up. I took of ALL screws on the bottom, as well as several panels that housed the hard drive, CD drive, etc. As far as I can tell all screws are out, and I can snap off the cover around the edges but something is still holding it on. Hey guys.. Got a Compaq Presario V6500 BUT... It won't boot.. It powers up, Charges etc, but powers on for around 3-5 seconds, and then switches off, before anything even comes up on the screen.. Any ideas? Cheers

my friend just had this problem at school too, the teacher went into the BIOS and set the video to take up the maximum amount of ram. go into the BIOS and check the video card settings, if you can, but you might need an external monitor to view the BIOS screen. if my other post before didnt work.

If the screen is black, nothing shows then your screen is faulty. however, if the external monitor also shows nothing then it could be a short in the main board. Time for a service at your local Computer shop.
