If they find anything out of the ordinary, my dr said there could be a possible biopsy. He was very low-key while explaining all of this, which makes me not want to worry, but here I am. He also didn't tell me about any ...

I've had this procedure twice and on both occasions was told not to have sex just prior to the procedure and to abstain from sex for one week after the procedure. I'd be guessing they'd say not to have sex so that the wound can heal and possibly to do with infection as they do cut out a tiny bit of your cervix.

I have always heard that you should not undergo a biopsy during a colposcopy while pregnant.  Well today at my doctors appt he said it was fine to do a biopsy during pregnancy.  I don't want to do it until at least the beginning of the third trimester just in case it puts me in labor.  Am I wrong for not wanting to go through with this procedure.  I have had dysplasia for the past 5 years and ...

My doctor's office called a few weeks ago and said my pap smear was abnormal. They found some abnormal cells and want to do a colposcopy. The cells they remove will be sent off for a biopsy. I will be 13 weeks when the procedure occurs on Tuesday. Has anyone else had one? What should I expect? I know there may be a pinching feeling and they general procedure has been explained but otherwise I am...

Re: Has anyone had a colposcopy/biopsy? permalink thanks for the replies! I had the colposcopy and biopsy on Friday afternoon, not much pain. Uncomfortable though! Now just to wait for the results, which is the hardest part. Thanks again everyone! __________________ Banded: May 20, 2009
