I am just completing the purchase of my first LandRover Discovery 3 and am taking delivery in a few days. I have chopped in my old Toyota Hi-Lux that has served me faithfully for the last 4 years, we use 4x4's because we have a caravan and they're much better for towing. I had a full CB rig in my Surf but there seems to be some issue about fitting it into the Disco, something to do with ...

Hi, I have both RG58 (50 Ohm) and RG59 (75 Ohm) coaxial cabling on hand. What is the best for a CB radio? (4.5db antenna) P.S - What do you use for HF ?

Hi, I need to replace the straight connector on my mic with a 90 degree angle connector. The one on the cable now is a 4-pin like this: I've taken off the two screws where the cable goes in, and the screws by the metal ring, but that is as far as I could go. I tried tugging on the cable but it didn't come out of the connector. The new connector is just as mysterious to me.. Does anyone ...

Up for sale is a complete CB package. Included is a Uniden PC68Elite CB Radio with mic. It has an adjustable stainless steel mount which I used to mount the antenna by the tailgate of my truck. Mount could be used to mount the antenna in a variety of places on a vehicle. Comes with an SWR tuner for optimal antenna tuning. Also included is a 3ft. black Firestik antenna with 18ft. coax. It ...

So I took a road trip this weekend to Denver, CO and we brought along a CB radio. Any time that we were chatting with people it would dramatically slow the car down. Like somebody just turned the cruise control off. I'm thinking it was interfering with the DBW system any other ideas?

I'm looking for ideas on where to mount my CB in my '05 TJ... I've seen a few mounts for the TJ (upper left side of the dash left of steering wheel/on the trans hump by my right calf) but nothing that looks right. On the dash- I'm not a big fan of having it on my left side & even putting on the right side has the cord dangling... On the trans hump- I'll be hitting it constantly with my ...

Is it possible to have a CB with an am/fm radio? I'm sure there will be a compromise of some sort...which is acceptable. I know the cb/am/fm antenna is a compromise so the radio likely will be too. I've google searched and have not turned anything up. Maybe I just haven't landed on the secret recipe of word combinations to search. Any info is much appreciated. Thanks and happy ...

Rule #1 of modified radios: only do what your paycheck can handle. If you are caught using a modified radio, current FCC fines have ranged from $5k-11k. I won't judge if you should or shouldn't modify your radio...but refer to rule #1. Quote: Originally Posted by Mechanos Once you spend some time on a HAM radio, you ...

ixnay on the mplifier-a they are verboten, you know? Wilsons are good antennas, just go to a good radio shop, they'll steer you in the right direction. if you can find a good one,get a CB w/ SSB~it opens up a whole other world(as far as distant signals, even over-seas signals, too;when the weather is right)

I work at a radio shop dealing with off road and road racing... using a mag mount you run into problems unless your mounting on a metal surface I.E. a metal roof, truck, bumper... We sell no ground plain mounts for fiberglass buggies, utv's and sandcars so that might be the route to go. I know that when you key up the mic it definitely drains the battery and sometimes our UTV will die if we don't...

When it's not mounted between my seats (with a lockable pull out and it's own battery) it's locked in the tool shed. (It's wired into the alarm system)

QUOTE (sheslostcontrol @ November 26, 2009 05:49 am) Ok I think I have it -- the black piece turns, and then pulls away from the silver piece. thanks anyway! That's right, there is a 1/4 turn & pull setup. I doubt that 90° versions of that connector are available, I've never seen one in more than 30 years of dealing with CB equipment.
