I'm having an issue with my 3G Touch.. If I leave my SSID being broadcasted I have no problems.. But as soon as I hide it.. I'll enter all the info in the Touch and it'll work fine for hours.. Then all of a sudden I'll go to use it again and it doesn't keep the info.. I'll have to manually reenter it all over again. Obviously very annoying.. Is there any fix for this?

Ok - so after I took the plunge and got my Droid today (which I'm 80% satisfied with), I found another nuisance that I hope can be solved.    I love to keep my network as secure as I can, so I never broadcast SSID.   Guess what - The Big III as I'll call them (Verizon, Google, Motorola) got another tiny thing wrong.   As far as I can see... You can not connect to a non-broadcasting SSID. ...

I had the same problem as you with my newly purchased droid. However, it was due to case sensitivity of my non broadcasting WIFI SSID. I had tried setting up the connection manually but entered the SSID name in all lower case. It didn't work. After entering in manually again using the same case as stored on the router it worked.   My routers SSID is "MyWifi" I entered "mywifi" and it couldn't...

I seem to have a bug. I can reliably replicate this on my phone and after talking to others, they mention the same issues. Setup: WiFi that does not broadcast its SSID and is protected (could be any protection, mine happens to use WPA Enterprise) How to replicate: -> Add the new network, set the network name (ssid), username, password, JOIN. -> You are joined to the network....

The title pretty much says it all. At my new job they have a WPA2 wireless network that doesn't broadcast an SSID name. I can't seem to get my Macbook Pro to auto-connect to the network. The settings appear (correctly) under 'preferred networks' but the machine fails to auto connect or recognize the presence of the network after 'scanning for networks'. As a result I am forced to manually enter ...

It may help to add a 'network location' for work... So that once you get to work, you just select it from the menu bar... It's what I do for switching back and forth from my in-laws to my house.

so now your router is wireless B? with the usb adapter attached to to the desktop, search for wireless networks till you find yours. If cannot find then in the router menu check on broadcast ssid but most of the time windows will detect the wireless automatically in minutes.

I was having the same problem with my iPhone not remembering my password once it went to sleep. I too had the phone's MAC address remembered in the router, but I did not have my SSID broadcast enabled. Make sure your SSID broadcast is enabled, and that should fix the problem.

Not broadcasting the SSID is not a real security measure and simply causes connectivity issues. Your better off using strong encryption, ie. WPA2 or at a minimum WPA, and a long random ASCII key. http://theillustratednetwork.mvps.org/LAN/SoHoWire lessSecurity.html Beyond that you might play around with netsh commands to create specific profiles for each network... http://technet.microsoft....
