That sounds like something that would work. I don't know exactly what you're talking about, but all he needs is a CHKDSK that works in the NTFS file format. His question was if it would work on a flash drive, and the answer is yes as long as he gets a Windows NT or newer version of CHKDSK for it. The same thing would work through a CD.

http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-in...working-gui de/ I used this guide to install windows 7 from a USB drive, it was fairly painless and worked perfectly windows 7 installed in about 15-20 min!
