I'd like to start out by saying that this isn't a traditional bolognese, whatever that is. It's rather my interpretation of the dish. Here's what you will need if you want to make it (all amounts are rough estimates, I've only cooked it at home, so I've never bothered measuring): 1 kg (~2 lbs.) plum tomatoes 0.5 kg (~1 lb) ground beef 0.2 kg (~0.5 lbs.) Italian salami 5-10 2-3" beef bones,...

Bean Bolognese Fiber-rich beans stand in for the beef and pork in this surprisingly rich-tasting vegetarian take on pasta Bolognese. Without the meat, the dish has only a third of the fat and 80 percent less saturated fat. To make the perfect meal, serve with a peppery arugula salad and warm, crusty Italian bread....

I made this last night and thought it was good, but not excellent. The dried porcini and cremini mushrooms give it a nice, earthy taste. The cheese rind thickens it up a bit and the wine adds a nice level of flavor. I diced my veggies in the food processor to save chopping time. Overall it was good, but I'm not sure if I would make it again. Here is the recipe: http://find.myrecipes....

The lentil and mushroom filling was good and thickened up nicely with the flour/veggie broth mixture. It needed way more seasoning than the recipe called for. I find the challenge with vegetarian dishes to be ...

After such sage advice from this group, I come home tonight to find that Jean has made lasagne Bolognese and chilled the Rinaldini Lambrusco Grasparossa "Vecchio Moro." Not being one to put her off any inspiration, I assented to the choice and we opened it nose: initially grapey, turning more savory in an herbal vein with time palate: vivacious, firm mousse, crisp acidity, slightly off-...

Marlon's busy making a Bolognese sauce when Moira appears into the kitchen and tastes it. Proclaiming that she'd be 15-stone if she were his wife, Marlon senses his opportunity and blurts out that he is falling for her. Stunned, Moira struggles to find the words and briskly leaves the kitchen. Moira finds Marlon at the back of the Woolpack and is horrified to hear that she has ...

Serious question here, please don't attack me! I have an almost vegetarian diet for various reasons but I am still eating some meat at the moment. Trying to cut it down, so today I bought Quorn mince for my spaghetti bolognese, but it got me thinking, most of my veggie friends claim to despite the taste/texture/look of meat, so why do they eat these fake meat products?
