My LO's umbilical stump fell off at exactly 1 week, he's 4 weeks old today. Since then, there's been a small amount of blood/clotting but no puss, redness or any other sign of infection. At his 2 week PED visit, the MD said it's normal, just leftover blood from the umbilical cord. But for 2 more weeks...would you call the MD? Anyone else had this problem?

Newborn bleeding belly button

Hi all! DD is 12 days old today. Her belly button cord fell off about a week ago and it has been kind of sticky since which I know is normal but last night when I went to change her nappy I noticed a blood stain on her singlet at the belly button site. It was there again this morning. Is this normal or something I should worry about? This didnt happen with ds so I am unsure..

"belly button" bleeding?

I never had this with my first two but this morning when I went to change my DD diaper, there was dried blood on her onsie and around her "belly button" (the cord stump hasn't fallen off yet). Should I be worried? It isn't like bleeding but it is still putting out a little bit. I have a call in to my doctor's office but I thought maybe someone else had experienced this. Thanks!

My DD's started bleeding today while I undressed her at the doctors, our Pedi says it's normal and it's from it seperating.

My LO's did the same thing. We had a doctor's appointment shortly after it starts and she showed me that inside her belly button she had a little lesion that was bleeding. She just told me to keep it clean and to put Neosporin on it.

My 2 months old belly button started to get crusty around it, then it did open up. There is a white discharge coming out, and my doctor put him on antibiotics and told me it will close back up eventually on its own. She just said not to give him a tub bath until it is healed and leave it alone and everything will be fine.
