Motorcycles, Life & Tires by Capt Crash Quick! Think of all the names you’ve heard for tires. Donuts, Buns, (sticky or regular?), Meat (as in street meat v. dirt), Rubber (got some new rubber), Sticky Bits (British guy confused me), Skins, even Gatorbacks (shucked caps—you know the tread of a truck tire lying in your lane looking like an alligator). We may use different language or ...

I have a 84 F-150 4X4 which badly wears the outside edge of the front tires (especially on the drivers side) since it was new. I can visually see the drivers side tire only contacts the road with about half the tread, so the camber is way positive. I've had the truck to several alignment shops over the years, even a dealership, with everyone of them telling me "it's within spec". Anyone...

Boy what a day. Went to pick up a new camper today and found that with the truck hooked up pulling it down the road it was fine. Turned the right turn signal on and the electric brakes would lock up as the flasher flashed! Mind you that it did work correctly yesterday. Went back to the dealership and found the center lug of the female trailer plug pushed through and shorted between the ...

On Friday 8/22, me and a few guys from work saddled up at noon for a ride up the the Shooting Star Saloon. This bar is the oldest and longest continually open bar in the state of Utah. They serve a Star Burger that is pretty good, especially if you like knackwurst. Anyway, we started out on our journey by going up Emigration Canyon. This canyon has two hairpin turns but is mostly ...

Well, here I am, 57 years old, been riding bikes since I was 15. Started with dirt, then moved to 4 stroke yamaha when they came out with them. Moved into viragos, then a few years ago bought a heritage. Wife wasn't as comfortable so I traded up to an 08 ultra. We have run breakfast runs, toy runs and the like. Yesterday we returned from a 1650 mile trip from Kansas to New Mexico then up ...

Every year for the last 8 or 9 years, I've taken a Boy Scout troop scalloping. We initially planned this year's trip to coincide with Faye. Thanks to Bman, we had reservations in the County camping ground right on the St. Marks River and we were ready to go. The weekend before, I went to the Cape, hooked up the Ol' Pro and brought it back to Valdosta. Checked everything, counted life jackets...

Riding the Dragon There is a kind of easy rhythm you get into With a few dozen curves under your belt Your head pivoting left and right and left again with each Of the 318 successive turns that make this road An absolute dance, just you and the bike and the road; And the next turn, coming up fast, like most of them is blind. So maybe you tap the brakes just before you enter it,...
