I've been doing some DB benchpress for a while now.. And recently whilst doing it I've been getting a sharp pain between my thumb and my index finger on my right hand. I thought I must've been holding it the wrong way.. I quickly moved my hand around and gripped the db. It obviously wasn't the case.. I moved my hand around a few times aswell to make sure It wasn't..I thought my thumb was handing ...

Today doing the benchpress at home, I realized that I am leaning more on my right arm to push the bar up. I try to use my left arm more, but I still feel like I'm using right. Any reason for this? Thank you,

As topic says. I'm a beginner with weight lifting and currently bench without a spotter. Right now I do 3 sets of 5 reps. I've had times where my muscles have failed me, so I rely on the lowest rack (the benchpress benches at 24 hour fitness have 2 racks, the normal one and one much lower). with that being said, should i just switch to Dumb-bell benchpress and do 3x5?

Would this be a good idea. Say when i can do 12 reps, i up the weight. will this work? Say if i start out on 100lbs at 6 reps, and up it to 110 lbs once i hit 12 reps with 100? And i up the weight 10lbs every time i hit 12 reps with that specific weight. Would this be a good idea? My theory is it would give you a mix between hypertrophy AND endurance. Sorry if I'm hard to understand....

About a month ago I strained by right bicep and it has gotten better in all exersies except bench. I was doing upright rows, with a wide grip, with a light weight. I seemed to strain it on the way up. now i have a pain in my bicep everytime i seem to do any 90degree movments (bench, lat pulldowns, pullups etc) Any idea what this could be or what i should do?? i took time off...

My gym has asked me to help coach some of the women at the gym for their first time competing. I have been looking back at old books and searching the internet and have been unable to find a good program that is suited for women. Does anybody have any tips on how women should train? Or should I just train them the same as a man? Any help would be great. Thanks

Today decided to max out, felt real good, felt pretty strong today. Though I felt I could have went for more, but there's always another day. Vid: http://tinypic.com/m/6fzgy0/2 It was recorded with my grandma's phone (NV Touch). It can only record for 1 minute if the vid is being sent, so I just barely made it, lol. EDIT: Thought I would just say I weighed in at 173lbs this ...

So basicly, a bodybuilder at my gym told me that it wasn't necessary to touch the chest all the time when you were working the bench. He told me variaton is the key here, and you should sometimes train with the bar touching your chest, but most of the time it's perfectly fine to be a few inches over the chest. Is this true, and if yes, sources? Edit; this is not when you are competing ...

shouldn't worry about touching the chest unless going for a 1rm imo. i dont do barbell bench anyways, dumbell bench is way better for hitting the chest because it forces you to use a longer ROM to an extent and doesnt stress the shoulders as much, plus stabilizers ftw.

I have a moronic, newbie question. I was wondering at what benchpress, squat, deadlift, etc, weights will I start to look like I 'lift weights.' I'd like to make it clear that I realize that this is a dumb question, and what I'm asking is subjective and more complicated than I'm making it seem. Additionally, I realize that looking like you lift weights is pretty much a function of how much ...
