Hi! My DD is almost 19 months and has had a small herniated belly button since she was born. They had told us that it should close before she's 2 otherwise it would require surgery. Has anyone else had this surgery performed on their kids?! Is it as minor as they make it sound?? Not sure if I should hope that it might still close--her birthday is in April and I'm hoping that we won't ...

My sister had one 25 years ago. Back then they fixed them at young age. Hers was gigantic though (big enough that she would squeeze it to fall asleep). She now has no belly button because of the surgery to fix it. Now they usually wait until 3 years old to see if it will close on its own before doing anything. The surgery they do now it very minor and leaves you with a belly button still...

I had a vertical sleeve weight loss surgery it was laproscopic, and all the incisions except one are hardly visible. The largest scar above my belly button looks just like a 2nd belly button it is very indented and has a thick spot to the scar. It drained (no infection) slightly for almost 4 months. Yeah the stomach looks very strange almost like he has had surgery through the belly button to remove fat or the like! You would think he would have visible abs with only 6% body fat which is also strange. Ah ok Chris, you admit though the transformation is very impressive?
