At the pre-school that I work in we have a little boy with an asd dx, he is brilliant and has come on soo much recently, one of the targets on his iep is to begin to share certain things. This is something that he finds hard because if there is a set of something he likes to have the whole set. Anyway to cut along story short, today we had this woman from Early Years in to see us about ...

The student nurse has decided that they are not going to test for ASD because my son is demonstrating 'normal' communication. Since when would a student nurse be in the position to decide something like this? My son has also told me that he hears strange noises and voices sometimes. Would this be usual? I don't know what to do and I am very depressed.

I am researching the use of social stories with older teenagers for my PGCE. I work in an FE college with young people aged 16 -23 who have learning difficulties and some of them have ASD. I have tried using a form of social story with one particular student with some success and would be interested to hear if others have used them with this age group.

Hi y'all; I just wanted to get some perspective from other ASD parents and parents of extra special kiddos. This has been a super challenging year for DD. She's in 4th grade, and her grades are continuing to drop, although of course they're somehow magically staying at the 70% mark so she doesn't qualify for additional services. Go figure. They took her out of inclusion this year and put her ...

Hi, I'm not an expert on autistic spectrum, but have a boy in my class this year (he's 10, new to the school) who I can see signs of ASD in. He doesn't like coming upstairs to class when the bell goes as it is loud and busy He refuses to put his lunch box in the tub with the others, but keeps it in his bag (sounds small but he won't budge on this one) He doesn't often talk to me, ...

I posted about my 3 year old son's feeding problems. This is the only area that he has trouble in, but I got many replies where children had SPD and ASD. Do they go hand in hand? Could I be missing that he may be on the spectrum and not have noticed it?

Hiya, I've bitten the bullet and decided to ask a question (I have many more - be warned!!) My son (almost 6) who is being assessed for AS/HFA has had many compulsive type behaviours over time. His latest one is that he runs out into the road, not right to the middle, but to the side where cars would park, and then he quickly runs back on to the pavement. He manages to slip my hand, or ...

Does ASD automatically install a set of country specific templates? Or does the installation need to be configured to suit specific countries...? We are trying to set up ASD to New Zealand conditions. I am aware that standards can be set by going to the ASD Model Tab, then Settings, then Project Settings, but am unabel to locate a NZ specific template. Maybe we have to create our ...

I was shocked to see live telecast that maharashtra police are running with lathis and outdated guns they would have achieved nothing without the the help of National security guards who has done a wonderful job.And the shameful politician R.R.Patil is back asd home Minister. Also why should Karkare take guns and the fight instead of guiding the police force. Also I am wondering why so much time ...

So, I took Layla to the pediatric cardiologist today, and she's OK. She has ASD, which is pretty common and shouldn't require surgery if it closes on its own. BUT she was weighed today, and she's down to 6 lbs, 6.5 oz... Her birth weight was 6 lbs, 11 oz. about a day after she was born, she dropped to a little over 5 lbs (but we were learning how to breastfeed, so we presumed that was normal)...
