i purchased 3 tickets on united recently for myself, my wife, my son. my son cannot accompany us on the trip. united said they would allow 1 year to use the value of the ticket, but only for my son to travel. i cant seem to convince them that since i purchase the ticket, i should be able to use the value of this ticket. is there anything i can do?...

I echo everyone else and say that your son should definitely say YES to the free flight to NZ. Who knows whether he'll have such an opportunity again? Sounds like a unique and fortuitous opportunity. Hi Pat - Lucky guy! NZ is a fabulous place and your son shouldn't miss this opportunity. He should definitely get out of Auckland though - so many beautiful places in NZ to explore. I'm taking a flight to Vegas from Regan, D.C w/ AA In D.C there is a AA lounge, but on the way back the only lounge is Continental... Anyone had luck with the AMEX platinum with AA tickets going into continental?
