Did my first paint job on truck with Viper Red BC/CC about a year ago. Being my first job it turned out ok but it seems like every panel has something that bugs me ie..waves, scratches, etc. Want to reshoot with Acrylic Enamel single stage. What would be my best plan of attack. I'm going to use red again. Thanks, Joe..............

I painted the door panel with PPG Delstar single stage enamel mixed with hardener 8:3:1 and everything came out ok but the color doesn't exactly match the rest of the car so I want to reshoot it. How long should I wait till I sand it down to repaint it and what grit of sand paper should I use? Temperature has been in the high fifties and fairly dry. Thanks

Hello guys, this question is how my thread about Dupont product has evolved. From trying to repair a rust spot, I am now converging on repainting a snow blower to develop my "painting" skills! To make a short story, I asked my stepfather if I could use his garage to fix my rust spot on my cavalier 05. His answer was: "If you only fix the biggest rust spot out about 10 smaller ones, you ...

Hi, I've never posted in this forum before...butttt....today at work I found some old...really old, enamel paints in pint cans. Most of these look to be from the 70's..early 80's. I found some VW colors...and shaking the cans, I was suprised that they were still liquid form, not hardened up. Does anybody have an idea how good the paints might be to use? I found several VW colors...most from the ...

Are early 911s acrylic enamel? I heard Glasurit is a good paint, but I have never used it, any recommendations. I have painted about five 911s in my whole life, so I have a little knowledge about paint, but I am by no means an expert. I painted them with base/clear, but it's too shiny. My dad just painted with a really cheap "2nd dimension" acrylic enamel paint. The can looked really ...

porsche's never used acrylic enamel paints for an OE finish . as for health . it all will KILL you !!! if your using a catalyst . a new respirator must be used with no more than 30 hours open to the air . so if you don't keep it in the bag it came in when you got it new it NO GOOD ! and proper ventilation must always be a standerd . so make no mistake about thinking that one is safer than an ...

I painted my bug a couple years ago with an RM acrylic enamel, medium blue metalic. It turned out great, it looks good but I would like to paint it again. I want to fix a couple mistakes only I can see. Can I paint over RM Acrylic enamel with RM BC/CC? Are there any concerns doing this? I only plan on painting the exterior. I plan on leaving the jams and interior as they are. thanks...

Hello all, I was fortunate to buy a very nice 1965 Fleetwood Brougham recently from the ORIGINAL owner. It has the original medium gray paint (don't know the specific color yet) in very good but slightly dull condition. Can anyone tell me if it's acrylic lacquer or acrylic enamel? I'd like to try turtle wax color back (which says it's for enamel only), or some other polish / wax ...

If using a single stage, I would go with an acrylic urethane over an acrylic enamel. Any 2 part paint (with harderner) will be superior to a 1 part paint. Other than that, there I agree with a lot of what Oldpainter says. However, if one intends to color sand a paint for nice flat surface, don't use single stage for metallics. It's then best to go BC/CC. But on solid colors, single stage is...
