I have a 10 month old colt, He recently was diagnosed with an abscess in his rear hoof. I have been treating it by picking it, and soaking in epsom salts twice daily, when the infection was causing this ankle to swell he was on antibiotics and bute. I am curious as to how this happened? He is on a good diet of hay and Purina Juvenile. And how can I prevent it in the future?

Beginning of abscess? I've been off my cycle of test 400 for a bit over a month now, and just noticed at the place of one of my injection sites a raised head and it is red. There is no pain, but this is a bit odd to me. It seems to me i would have noticed it much earlier than this. Can abscesses still form this long after your last injection? Or is this most ...

QUESTION: My brother's rat, Rice, has what you said a long time ago was an abscess. We read your website about draining an abscess and tried to follow your instructions. We got a damp towel and heated in the microwave (because we didn't have any rice) and tried to keep it on the bump for as long as we can. We put a needle in some fire and let it cool and put alcohol on it and gently poked into ...

I read the question and response to the May 1, 2009 dental abscess. Very helpful -I am sorry I cannot be as detailed or clear. My question is similar -- am I too late to utilize homeopathy to heal my back molar (#31)? I am a type 1 female diabetic for 40 years, currently 57. None of usual diabetic complications but severe auto-immune issues, including recently diagnosed celiac & malabsorption...

So about 2 weeks ago I first noticed a small scab on my dogs front left arm, little above her elbow. At first it was small then it started to grow. My girlfriend's cat had an abscess that I helped her cleaned out and the scab looked very similiar. Couple days ago my girlfriend decided to clean up the scab a little bit, giving it some hot compresses and giving her baths and cleaning it ...

Last Tuesday noticed Kip was pointing his R front and lame (I'd say a 2 on 1-5 scale). Assumed hoof abscess, so soaked, packed with ichtammol, and bute. Put vet on notice. By Wed night, there was heat & swelling in fetlock and tendon sheath and he's dead lame, so vet came out on Thursday. No positive response to hoof testers, but there looked to be a weak area near the white line by his toe. ...

I have a 6 month old GSD that I've had for 4 plus months. I know that the "No Kill Shelter" has a new arrival GSD at approximately 10 weeks of age and was abandoned. The puppy had an abscess on it neck and this was dealt with by them. http://www.oahuspca.org These are the folks. My wife works with a volunteer from there and was asked if we'd be interested in fostering. The answer to that ...

How long do dogs with soft tissue sarcoma live if he didn't get ...

After returning from the Hobart test with an abscess the size of a tennis ball in my face, and my brother with a broken leg, we have decided next summer we are going to Adelaide. It'll be awesome. Come. Hang with Poz at the test, smash beers all day. I don't really need to promote it, it speaks volumes for itself.
