If you are staying in St. George...you may want to drive up I-15 to Kolob Canyons as well. There are some incredible views as well as great hiking. We were there this past spring....loved it. Kolob Canyons are technically part of Zion Park. http://www.zionnational-park.com/kolob-canyon.htm

K_Bot, I just picked up an AAA map, and I'm going to check out Kanab. Thanks for this tip-it might fit perfectly. I appreciate all the posts. To clarify, at this point in our 9 day trip, we will be leaving Zion and heading to Bryce, as many of you note (Whereare and Doug.) So, it seems if Kanab isn't a fit, we will have to go to Bryce via Cedar City. I do see that there is another scenic ...

Dez40 is right. You just don't have enough time. Pick one direction or the other, but not both. Bryce and Zion need an overnight stay if you want to do both, but it can be done. The GCNP is also best done as an over night visit. If you opt for one of the day trips from LV it will take 15 hours or more of that day, effectively wearing you out for the following day as well. Trying to...

Depending on how long your stay in Vegas is, I would consider doing Zion as a separate day trip. With 5 or 6 hours travelling either side of your night at Grand canyon and short day light hours will mean very little time admiring this wonder of the world.

Is it possible to do Bryce and Zion in 2 nights/1 full day? Sure! Is it possible to see enough of both? Hmmmmm, tough question. It depends in large part on how you like to see national parks. Bryce Canyon (which isn't actually a canyon at all) has an immediate WOW factor as soon as you stop at any of the major viewpoints. You can get a good overview in just an hour or two, although sunrise ...

Hey kathy884! We were just at Vegas , Bryce, and Zion in May (and the Grand Canyon) and am also from St. Louis!! I agree with everyone here - your plan sounds great - glad you are taking a few days at each place. And if you can, stay IN the parks - it is so worth the money to be right there when you wake up. I could see staying outside at Zion, though. That town is really nice and...

I have not seen a condor at Zion yet,but have seen them several times at the Grand Canyon,at both the north and south rims. They are pretty impressive , because they are so big. If you are ever at the Grand Canyon and see a ranger walking around with something that looks like an antenna, they are using that to track the condors. Last time at the north rim,I was sitting on the ...
