Another Performance Capture film from Mr Zemeckis and I'd probably rank this as his worst (although I enjoyed both Beowulf and Polar Express). It's a mostly straight up adaptation of A Christmas Carol done in 3D performance capture With Jim Carrey playing Scrooge and at least two of the three ghosts (may possibly be playing the ghost of Christmas yet to come but you can't tell). Good ...

http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/11/25/robert-zemecki s-thinks-performance -capture-should-get-its-own-oscar/ Should a performance capture computer animated film production be considered for Best Animated Picture? Best Picture? Or should the Academy create a new category for this new emerging hybrid? Robert Zemeckis thinks the Academy should do just that, of course! The director of ...

So when I read the LA times article where Zoe Saldana gave a little nudge at Zemeckis' inferior motion capture, I thought that was great. Then I was reading Wired magazine and it said; Zemeckis, Cameron says, "used the same marker system we use for the body and captured the facial performance with those mo-cap cameras. Really a bonehead idea ." And there I thought HEY, maybe he ...

There are so many versions of this story yet all remain so faithful to the same template that it is not unreasonable to ask if filmmaker Robert Zemeckis even cracked open this modest ghost tale to make his digitized 3-D version of the story. http://roundtablepictures.blogspot.com/2009/11/deh umanization-of-movie s-scrooge-was.html

Like the subject said, i'd love to see those 3 fx wizards speak about the film. I respect each person immensely, but what Cameron has achieved in this film was amazing. It'd be great to hear their thoughts on it-and even more interesting if they didn't like it and whatnot!

James Cameron said that Avatar will change the film industry forever. Why? Zemeckis used motion capture and 3D before him and his films were on every theater. Of course Avatar is much better than (generally and technically) Zemeckis' all motion capture flicks but he did it first! What is this underestimation?

that's actually a fair point. the potential for video games as story telling is far greater than it was, but the way it's getting used is getting dumber. but it's so goddamn shiny! "They are just a flock of to fish for fame its person"

We saw this movie (in 2D) over the weekend. A Christmas Carol is one of my favorites, and this version is very, very good. Very realistically drawn, a real treat for anyone who loves the story. A must see for teens and adults. However I wanted to add a heads up here that it is simply too intense for young children. We brought our bunch ranging from 2 and up and all of the kids (ages 5, 7, 9 ...
