Hi, We're hoping to spend about a week in Zanzibar at the end of a safari at Easter time. We'll be arriving in Zanzibar the Tuesday after Easter. Do you think we would need to book accommodation in advance or would it be OK to go on spec. We are three sisters, so looking for a triple room for around 25/$35 pps a night. Does that sound reasonable?? Ideally we'd love a beach hut/ bungalow. ...

I am going on a trip to Tanzania in February and plan to spend 3 weeks. One week hiking up Kilimanjaro, then safari for 6 days, then to Zanzibar (Stone Town and later beach) for 6 days. We are flying into JRO and out of DAR but have a short Precision Air flight from Arusha to Zanzibar. For our Kilimanjaro hike there is a 15 kg max for the porters. Does Precision Air have a max ...

Is it normal in Zanzibar to pay the full amount for your hotel a week before your arrival, instead of when you check out? I'm planning a trip in the new year and a couple of hotels have requested that. Also they've mentioned a bank transfer (which I'm not so keen on doing) rather than credit card. Does anyone have any advice about this?

Well folks, I’ll keep this as brief as possible and begin by saying I thought our latest Zanzibar party was a well-attended and fitting end to another year of events, all of which I found memorable in their own right. As always, my utmost appreciation goes to everyone having made the effort not only to attend, but also for mingling and chatting with other members and guests. When push comes ...

Hello A bit of a random question....looking at putting a Kidsline wall border up and seeing it's quite a popular brand (they do zanzibar, barnyard, etc) I was wondering if anyone has used the borders and how do they go with removal?!? Seeing we are currently in a rental I want to ensure the border can be removed without damaging the wall and the paint!

Looking for help on East Africa Hello all, I will travel, along with a friend, to Ethiopia on Thursday (Dec 10) for about 5 weeks of sightseeing, safari, beachtime and whatnot. We will work our way down through Kenya (and possibly Uganda) to end up on Zanzibar sometime after New Years. As we are both flight instructors, we will of ...

Further to changing its schedule to Frankfurt, Ethiopian is adding night flights to Entebbe, Kigali, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar. This brings frequencies to these cities along with Nairobi and Dar es Salaam to 11 per week. Schedules posted at http://www.africanflyer.com.

some cameras can freeze in cold temps, depends on the battery and the inner workings, I think. I haven't had a problem with my mid-range D-SLR (haven't been up Kili, but spent time in the Himalayas), but the smaller digital camera has frozen on occasion. One thing I thought of is to go a size UP on your safari trousers, looser is always better when it is hot and you are ...

Jake... You are on the wrong forum, go to the Tanzania forum and you will find more information on safaris. If you just want to ferry over to Dar es Salaam and then catch an inexpensive safari from there you can do that. On the Tz forum you will find a list of topical questions in the upper right hand corner of the web page, One of these is getting an inexpensive safari, click on that...
