I have braces and I'm getting them removed on Monday. However, my teeth are not white and everyone else I know with braces seem to have white teeth. Is it just the way my teeth are or is it something I'm eating or drinking? Have you got any tips to get them white before Monday without whitening them?

Alia was extremely jaundiced as a newborn, it took almost 2 months for it to clear up. And now, 3 out of her 5 teeth have come in with yellow spots on them. It's not decay. She's only had a bottle a handful of times, never had juice, we brush her teeth everyday. I've read that jaundice often causes these yellow spots, and I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed it in their LOs?

I just got my braces off, and your teeth can get a bit dingy after having those things on for awhile. I have braces and my teeth look yellow too. I don't think they were the whitest before I even got the braces tho. I drink a lot of red wine and coffee, so that's why. I am getting mine off in a couple weeks and I am going to use whitestrips to lighten them up. There's no way for you to really do it before you get your braces off. Sorry. Natalie had a bilirubin level of 20 and wasn't admitted until 6 hours after that test, so probably higher. She only has 2 teeth so far, but no yellow spots that I can see. I'll keep an eye on it, because (from my understanding) a number in the 20's is pretty severe.

My DD2's were like that and they started to erode soon after. She needed caps on the front four top teeth (the ones that came in yellow) and two of those needed a root canal. I honestly think they came in with bad enamel or something. If I were you, I'd keep a close eye on them and get her to a good dentist before long to have them checked. Start looking now so you can find one who is supportive...

Just incase anyone was curious.. I took her to the dentist at it seem like it might be Dentinogenesis imperfecta it is a rare genetic defect. Her teeth that is comming up seems like it does not have the dentin in them so the teeth are not stained. We are seeing her nerves. It doesn't hurt.
