Hello! I'm trying to setup a home workbench with a M2-ATX PSU + intel D, connected to a 12v AC/DC Adaptor. The ignition wire is connected to the + wire. It happens that the board activetes the led but, when I press the power button, it spins the fan and goes off... I've already tried with the power connector connected to the M2-ATX, also with the same results... My adaptor...

I have been searching workbench designs for a while and thought I was settled on the "traditional" style workbench (mine would be 30" x 78") made from hard maple w/bench dogs and a vise. However, a friend of mine put in my head some of the models out there that are portable and made from other materials besides maple. To be honest, I didn't even consider these before. I'm working out of a 10.5' x...

the workbench project in the November Popular Woodworking is just what I've been looking for. I've followed the blogs, but missed picking up a copy of the magazine before the December issue hit the shelves. Now I have a chance to pick up some LVL beams at a bargain. I downloaded the Sketchup model, but can't get the article or even the cut list for a couple weeks. HELP! If you have a ...

I've tried to compile MySql-Workbench 5.2.8 beta on Mandriva 2010.0 but I get this error: cannot find OpenGL. I understand that mesa is the opensource implementation of OpenGL, and this is installed in my system. Does anybody know how to proceed and compile mysql-workbench?

I have a little question about sealing my MDF workbench top. I recently watched a episode of The Woodsmith Shop about building a "weekend workbench". It looked pretty good and strong and I've been meaning to get a good workbench for a while so I downloaded the plans and built it, (front vise, dog holes and all). It turned out great (big and heavy). Well, at the end of the program Don, the ...

How do the Groz engineer's squares measure up for setting up a TS, BS, etc? Rockler has them (set of 3) on sale for $29.99 instead of $39.99. I think the squares may also come in handy when installing a vise on my workbench to be (so I need a larget one for that?). A good graduated combination square would be useful too, no? If the engineers squares above were graduated I'd probably use...

I just built a bunch out of 4x4 lumber and lag bolts. Lots. For the top I bought some counter material at Lowe's. I built most of them at 6' but one at 4'. Total cost for lumber, lag bolts, and counter top for a 6' unit was about $100. Heavy as hell. Can bolt them to the wall of your garage or shop easily. I guess they weigh 125-150 lbs and are sturdy as hell. I build a shelf under the top ...

Schwarz' book is definitely my preference for an understanding of the tradeoffs in bench design. He invites you to challenge the features, materials, construction details, and accessory use for any bench; and he helps you through the process of deciding what's important for your bench and why. In particular, he challenges the design of the popular Scandanavian-derived benches and provides a lot...
