Complete 5 piece veneer kit for 1969 to 1971 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 105.51 US Spec. The veneer used is Jatoba aka Brazilian cherry wood. Jatoba is a good substitute for the Teak wood, originally used in the Alfa Romeo GTV interior. The Jatoba is layered on top of a flexible wood backing for enhanced flexibility. I'm thinking of wood veneer on the dash and console inserts for the wife's '68 Mustang. I think it would look good with a black interior. Any body tried wood veneer work before in a resto project, any hints?

Say I have speaker cabinets that are built well with a beautiful wood veneer, but the veneer has a few scratches - If I want to refinish them, can I do it without having to scrap and replace the existing veneer? And what if there were a lot of scratches, chips, etc.? What wood my options be? I built a nice, little 2X2 mini-coffee table (tung-oiled) with an inset ceramic-tile top when I was ...

Dear Expert, The other day I sat a hot casserole dish on our wood veneer table. Though the dish was placed on a pot holder which was placed on a towel, after removing the item from the table, I noticed it faded a small portion of the table. My conclusion is that the heat effected the finish. The spot has not bubbled or cracked, the color has just faded in a small circle. It went from a ...

Here's the quick roundup of questions... I plan on doing the iron on veneer technique using the heatlock glue from woodveneer supplies.com - How many square feet does a pint cover vs a gallon? - How long does it take for the glue to cure? - Is there an order you should go in (Top, bottom, left, right, etc) - Does paper backed veneer work better with the glue or is ...

OK I went in, did some study and took some pics. I agree the left side panel is a problem (symmetry) relative to the '69 as well as the center piece between the gauges. I think I'm going to pass on this set because of these issues. Thank you again papajam as I have a brand new car to me and haven't even had it running yet and don't even know what all the dash components are! I wasn't really ...

All glued up now and it looks very good. I'll post pics tomorrow. Mixed reviews on the lock miter bit. It creates an amazingly tight joint but it must be set up to perfection and the wood must pass over the bit perfectly as well. running several 8 ft boards over the bit gave me a few places where the joint opened up a bit. I used epoxy mixed with sanding dust to fill them in then stuck a ...

This is Satin American Walnut. Used on the old Portfolio's. Jaguar is now using it on the base XF luxury for 2010. It's for people that are bored with the beautiful stained rich veneers with the acrylic coating. It's amazing how many people think Jag uses fake wood now that the wood trim is so perfect. Perhaps this is why they started using raw wood trim in some models.
