I followed the directions on installation of an optical wireless mouse and the prompts say it has installed successfully but the mouse is not working - do I need to turn the firewall off in 1 Care in order for the device to work?

Hey i don't know if i have this in the right place so mods please move accordingly. Recieved a HP Mini 110 laptop yesterday. Its running Windows 7 "starter" and upon searching i now realise that the background cannot be customised unless the "starter" is upgraded and when i do go to upgrade it, it says its not available in my region. Afternoon, I have just spent the last 2 hours reinstalling and downloading all the new patches for wow, got ready to start it up and the mouse does not work I do have a logitech s510 cordless keyboard and mouse on windows 7 and was just curious as to whether any of you have had the same issues or if there is a fix for this? I put it off but eventually gave in to Microsoft demands via there updates system and installed ie 8 over ie 7 on my wifes xp machine. Before, the Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse worked flawlessly. Now Just the wireless keyboard. Good job I have a spare usb mouse otherwise I would be sleeping in the guest bedroom. The system freezes while user is trying to input data with either the mouse or keyboard and then when connection is restored, all the commands stored in buffers hit the system at once causing address bar on open explorer, or IE windows, to open, scroll up and down several times, start menu opens, closes - and other strange things. 1 person needs an answer I do too
