I have this blu ray player: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Network-Blu...2032197&sr= 8-1 It has an ethernet jack in the back and unfortunately there is no way to plug it in. There is however, a wireless network. I need some sort of wireless access point to plug it directly into the blu-ray player. I need something strictly for the player. Getting a wireless router would seem to be overkill,...

It's completely up to you - either would work. Advantage to getting the AP, instead of the 2640B: ease-of-placement. You can put the AP where it works best, and keep the existing modem/router where it is (which is probably where it works best.) Advantage to replacing your current modem/router with the 2640B (instead of hanging an AP off of your LAN): one-box management. Me, ...

Hi there, I am setting up a belkin wireless G router as a wireless access point. The existing wired network is controlled by Server 2003 (DHCP etc.) I plugged in the Wireless box to the network via a LAN port (rather than its WAN). I also disabled DHCP on the wireless box. I have also set up wireless security. Now this is where it gets strange. When I connect to the wireless box ...

I have a workgroup consisting mainly of XP systems on a wired network, using fixed internal IP addresses behind a Linux firewall, which also performs NAT routing. I added a wireless access point to the network about 6 months ago for use with a Nintendo DS and that works fine. I have also recently added a Windows 7 system to the network, with a wireless network adaptor. All the wired XP ...

Ok, new project. I know it'd be easier to just go buy a damn wireless router, but I'm a tightass and its a learning experience. What I want to do is create a virtual wireless router equipped with internet connection sharing from my LAN. I know this is possible in Windows 7 due to some type of 'unfinished software', but I don't have Windows 7 and am not willing to pirate it. I also know that OS ...

I've read thru the threads about setting the wireless modem up as an access point and believe I understand all of that, but my only question is... Once I have set up the additional wireless router as an access point, can I still use the open ports on router to connect wired computers to internet, or can it only be used as a wireless AP?

I am trying to download the drivers for a wireless USB and it always gives me this warning "You have aborted the WPS connection wizard. The driver installation of the DWA-140 is complete. However you may not be asociated to a router/Access point" of course I never aborted anything. I have unistalled and reinstalled with no luck. I had a friend look at my computer earlier and he said my ...

Yes I am happy with the router. I have tried different ones and this is the first one that doesnt just restart out of the blue. Kinda pain in the butt when you are playing games online and boom, modem resets. As for connecting the ap, when I take a cable from the modem and plug it into the ap, that port will not light up on the modem. Am I missing something on the router that I have...

What you need is a wireless ethernet bridge. Simply configure it wired to connect to your wireless network, then plug it in to any ethernet device, presto! Instant wireless device. Allan

alan2308 wrote: Plugging the AP into the router with an ethernet cable should "just work." By moving a known good device to each port on the router, you've already verified that they're all good, so the AP should work when connected and powered up. Does anything beyond the power LED come on on the AP when connected to the router? Try using a different cable to ...

i have used an old dlink router wired into my be box as an extender. if you can get an ethernet wire upstairs (or to other end of house cos floors aren't as thick as walls ) it would really extend your coverage. plug in lan port to lan port (not wan) set the second router on same subnet and disable dhcp on it. set gateway ip to bebox lan ip if your router will let you make ...
