Before you post "oh god not another one", "ffs apple/linux/windows is better always will be". With no reason what so ever. Read. THIS IS NOT AN OPINION OF WHICH YOU LIKE BEST THREAD! I am becoming more openly minded to many computer operating systems and set up styles. What I was curious is, what makes each OS special? For example(s). Linux, you get the complete customization. Is a ...

I'm sure this has been done before, but I would just like to see what people think. If you REALLY REALLY REALLY hate one of these Operating Systems post about it and see if then people are going to REALLY REALLY REALLY hate you.

The problem is that the entire installation is running faster when this node runs on Windows, and much slower when it's on Linux. All it has to do, is to listen on a UDP port, and sent received data on an other UPD port. But it's ...

Personally i don't really like windows. Windows xp is allright and i hope Windows 7 is an improvement on windows vista. Anyways what do you ...

Recently, a speaker at a meet-up stated that the only reason Linux is a more popular server platform is that kids starting hosting companies do not need to pay for the license... whereas college educated techies prefer the windows platform for their servers.. So I thought I would get some opinions from the pro's... which is the overall best server platform Windows... or Linux

It's best you decide which Linux distribution you want first. Because unlike Windows, Linux comes in many variety that caters to different user's needs/likes. For beginners I recommend Ubuntu. Go to the website and download a copy (using torrents is faster). You're definitely going to have to read up on wikis on how to install Ubuntu. There are some dual boot guides online. Linux is a new ...

Both have same cpu, motherboard, ram, hard drive etc. The only difference is that one machine is configured with Ubuntu and the other configured with Windows 2003 server running Apache. Both have the same version of MySql...
