I've recently been trying to make my computer to cut down on some of the rams that unnecessary programs on my computer have been using, though i'm not exactly eager to remove the microsoft windows operating system, but i am curious to know if its necessary to be left ticked on the startup. Would be much appreciated if someone can help me out, thanks !

i think the problem's with ur 2nd cd/dvd rom driver "acd1" you might just disconnect it and roll with acd0, since you wont ever need 2 optical drives if you keep that box dedicated to PFsense i'm pretty sure a 1.2.3 release will swing it though if you can get another gig or two of ram on that box it should be great with the PFsense custom Snort and Squid packages Snort...

It is probably your SD card slot that is doing this. I had this exact same problem with Windows Vista Home Basic SP1. When nothing is in the slot, the icon is still there. If you put a card in the slot, it works, but if you try to "Safely Remove" it, the icon will go away and the slot won't work again until you reboot.
