Hello, I have a copy of Server 2008 x64 Standard R2. I have installed the new WMS 2008 RC for R2. Now, none of the plugins that were working on my Server 2008 x64 (non-R2) are working. I had authentication plugins and Timeshifting plugins running. They will not install on the new version. What changed? What can I do?

I have set up a video for streaming using Windows media services. It is an on demand type streaming. I have placed a wmv file in my local machine and added a publishing point. I am pointing that to my wmv file which is there in my machine. And http streaming is enabled for this. It is working fine some times. But some times the video is not playing. What might be the cause for...

Hi I would like to know if there is any documentation about migrating media delivery from Windows Media Services (WMS) to IIS Smooth streaming? Today I serve my content using WMS. My content is usually just one bitrate wmv file in Windows Media 9 format (video and audio) in an asf container. I also have another version of my content for mobile devices such as the iPhone. Installed Server 2008 R2 on a new server as a replacement for our aging Windows 2003 Media Services server. Find out when I go to install that role that the media services role is not included in 2008 R2, and is a seperate download, however, the download is still for the 2008 R2 Release Candidate, not the RTM version. Where can I obtain the final version of the media services role for 2008 R2?...

I need some ideas on how to configure a Windows Media Services publishing point on an ingress server that is password protected, so that an encoder ingress stream to the publishing point requires a username and password. At the same time we need to have a relay publishing point configured on a seperate egress server, which is not password protected and therefore open for all ...

Ok, the word from Microsoft: I got reproduce the issue on my side and confirmed it was a code detect. Good news is the bug has been fixed in Windows Media Services 2008 R2 RTM build. The release date will be in 2010 Feb. Currently, it is not possible to get around it because the code bug is in low level code base which did not expose any registry key or programming interface to change ...

For live streaming, it's not really possible on the server side, it must happen on the encoder and the player must know how to deal with it. Thankfully, Windows Media Services allows you to encode multiple bitrates into one stream, and the player can automatically negotiate which bitrate is best for the given connection. This all happens seamlessly, all you need to do is set up your encoder ...

Back-up any personal data (none of which should be considered 100% trustworthy at this point) then do a format & clean install of Windows. Please note that a Repair Install (AKA in-place upgrade) will NOT fix this! cf. http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html# steps TIP: There may be a hidden Recovery partition (not to be confused with System Restore) you can use to ...
