Gateway Laptop MX 3044 drive failure - replaced drive and attempted to use recovery CD from Gateway. Recovery Process stops with continual errors "problem in extracting process" Gave up on that and attempted to install Win XP pro from Legal CD - but now receive continual copying errors during the install - "missing or corrupt files" Any ideas 1 person needs an answer I do too

I am using win xp home sp3 I am trying to use remote assistance as helper through msn messenger. my laptop will not boot to win xp from the hard drive or the inoperable cd drive. i keep getting a message saying that the win xp program config files cannot be found or are corrupted. i want to change the boot priority to a "removable device" like a 4GB usb flash drive. how do i create such a bootable usb device using another computer? thanks. 1 person needs an answer I do too

Win XP Pro reinstall after boot virus changed files to where I could no longer log in. Used third party PC to hook up drives and clean viruses & trojans. Got rid of them. Reinstall XP with all SPs and updates. But cannot open my personal file unde doc & settings using windows or DOS. Access denied. 1 person needs an answer I do too

Hi! I'm installing Windows 7. My OS now is Windows Xp Pro 32-bit. Can I install the Windows 7 as a 64-bit installation on my actual PC or must I install Windows 7 as a 32-bit installation, same as the Win Xp Pro? Does the hardware limit this so I can only install a 32-bit OS? Thank you for help.
